It's always very important to give back to your community. Unfortunately, since attending college I haven't done nearly as much community service as I did when I was in high school. However, I would love to do more to help in community service efforts. When I return home for the summer, I plan to look for community service projects to get involved in. I don't have any particular project in mind at the moment, but I intend on doing research to find some events to take part in.

So this past week was stressful to say the least. I pretty much lived in the library. I had a midterm in my Social Problems class, so most of my week was spent trying to not fail. I was also working on a project for my Three Dimensional design class that broke three times...so that was lovely. On Thursday, I also remembered that I had a project due for my Art History class the next day (procrastination is always a good idea until it's not) so I had to walk around the campus and find something that shared a similarity with a building, painting, or sculpture from the Renaissance. On a good note I actually did find a something that worked well for the project. At the end of the week I had to actually take my midterm for my Social Problems class so that was as fun as you would imagine it to be. On Saturday, I got to help with my first USA Day and that was a really cool experience to interact with everybody who is interested in South. All in all, studying and procrastinat...

It probably seems weird to have multiple study places, but where I decide to study depends on what I'm trying to get done. It basically depends on how much I need to study and how much I want to focus on what I'm doing. With that being said, here are my top 4 places to study on campus: 1. My room: This probably isn't the best idea, but I usually study in my room if I have to study for something that I pretty much already know the information on already. 2. The study room in Azalea: The study rooms in the residence hall buildings are great for having a quiet place to study. It's also extremely convenient. 3. The student center: I don't study here as often as the other places, but it is nice to study and be around food options if you need to take a break to eat. 4. The Library: This is my favorite place to study, especially if I need to study for hours. It also helps that there's a Starbucks inside.

Before starting college I already thought of myself as an "independent" person, but moving from home to go to college really amplifies independence. I realized I took a lot of things for granted before I lived alone, but college really put a lot of that into perspective. College has taught me independence through maintaining schoolwork, as well as physical and mental health, so I can function semi normally.

1. It's super convenient to get to all your classes. Even if you don't want to walk, the Jag Tran makes it easy to get from your dorm to classes in time. 2. The study rooms in the residence hall make it extremely easy to study if you don't want to study in your room. 3. The dorms are extremely close to the dining hall so you won't be far from food. 4. There's usually events planned in the residence halls that make it easy to meet other people and socialize. 5. The environment in itself is very welcoming so you won't feel out of place when you live on campus. With all that said, I highly recommend everyone to look into USA Housing!

The class I'm most excited about this semester is Social Problems. After three classes, I have already learned so much about how seemingly unrelated circumstances like poverty, healthcare, as well as other problems turn out to be extremely related.

Winter Break has pretty much been the moment I've been waiting for since the semester started, so it's an understatement to say that I am excited for it. After all the stress and work from Finals week I can't wait to go back home and do virtually nothing. In between times of doing nothing I'm excited to see my friends who I haven't seen since August. I will be pretty much spending the rest of my time over break on Hulu and/or Netflix. I haven't had the time  to watch anything recently so I have more than enough shows to catch up on. Hopefully this break gives me enough energy to handle the next semester!
