Introduction and Journey to USA

Hello, my name is Kiandre, and I am currently a freshman at USA. I'm from Tuscaloosa, Alabama and graduated high school from Paul W. Bryant High School in Cottondale, Alabama. When I became a junior in high school, I started seriously considering different options about what I wanted to do for my future career. I thought about becoming a nurse, but I soon decided to follow my passion and pursue a career in art. As a senior, I considered a few options for colleges, but USA stood out from the rest. After touring the campus, I decided to attend USA officially. I have had an excellent experience at USA since attending, and I highly recommend USA for any students who want a great place to learn and grow!

Up until the beginning of this semester I didn't really venture out to many places on campus. Since I started going to more places on campus, the outdoor space I go to the most is the outdoor area outside the Student Center. This area is a really good place to eat, meet friends, or do work if you need to. There are also certain events that take place from time to time so that's also a positive. What You Need for Classes: 1. Backpack - Don't forget your backpack! Helps holds your snacks, as well as books. 2. Planner - Helps to keep track of your assignments and stay organized. 3. Chargers - Make sure to bring these with you to classes to keep your electronics charged throughout the day. 4. Water Bottle/Snacks - It gets very hot so it's important to stay hydrated, and if you have back to back classes it's good to keep snacks to eat in between. 5. Jag Card - It gets you in and out of testing areas and it's what you use to buy food, supplies, etc. 6. A friend - It's important to get to know the people around you in your classes to help you if you miss classes, or need help. 7. Clicker - Chances are you're probably going to need this for classes. What I've Learned About Myself Since Becoming a Jag

It has been a crazy year since I started at South. There's been multiple highs and lows, but it has been a great experience overall. Being in college forces you to learn a lot about yourself. Since becoming a Jag, one thing I've learned is problem solving. There's been many things that have been out of my control or difficult, but I have learned to find ways to work through them. Obstacles are not ideal by any means, but it's not impossible to deal with them and move forward.
